Teen/Ragers

I randomly came across this math rock/noodly twinkly/indie emo band when someone on one of the facebook groups I am in posted them up. Once I checked there bandcamp I realized these guys are pretty new barely releasing a debut 7 song EP entitled Rick Neagan. And my god its good. It reminds me of Them, roaringtwenties on some parts of the guitars. Very random twinkly like. The band also has a live demo they recorded when they played with Native. The band hasnt made any physical copies yet but I do hope they make some soon so I can buy one. The band is very twinkly indie emo like. You know what that means. Its good shit.

Small steps

New band of the day, Small steps recently released there debut EP tape entitled Puzzlejar which they remind me of Calculator and The Reptilian smashed into one. Pretty awesome right? Yes indeed. They have also done a 4 song demo which sounds totally different from Puzzlejar but I am still more of a fan on there new sound. Besides this going on my top list I do hope itll someday be released on a vinyl. So if you like Calculator and The Reptilian this may be something to look into. The band not to long ago went on tour too bad they didnt come to California, I hope they do some day. Anyway there bandcamp has the free downloads to Puzzlejar and there Whoops. Demo. Go and buy there tape as well.

Maumelle

This band followed me on instagram so I checked them out and they are very rad. They recently released there debut EP entitled 1997. The songs must be personal since it speaks of the vocalist parents. I even got teary halfway this EP. Its very good and has the mix sound of Make Me/Merchant Ships. I do expect much more music coming from them soon. But as there debut EP. They are quiet the excellent band as starters. That is all.

City Of Ifa

August is around the corner and a block down are a few new records cool bands will be putting out. I came across City of Ifa on Last.fm while scrolling on math rock stuff. I hate the word "Mathcore" it sounds stupid so I guess my best way to describe them is math rock with solid post hardcore and some hardcore skramz like influence. The thing that excites me the most is that this band is under the whole DIY stuff. They have released about 3 albums, 2 EP's and a split and are currently working on a 4th length. I will say that they are better than The Fall Of Troy by 100 times. The screaming vocals is pure perfect and even the singing vocals (which annoys me at times) are pretty good too. Well there first album Overture and there second length Black Pyramid have more of a screaming vocals rather than singing. While there first EP is much more of an instrumental with one track that is about 30 seconds with screaming vocals. There second EP Sketchy Youth has a cross over of screaming and singing vocals which isnt so bad. There latest length Blue Shoes does come with some screaming vocal suprises but mostly poppy singing vocals (I am not much of a fan of for this band since it doesnt suit them) but the musicianship is very strong when I hear that album. One of there splits with Hentrietta entitled "Everyone is (Not) you" the split follows along much more poppier vocals than Blue shoes. It is my least favorite release of theres to tell you the truth. Not long ago they released a
Split Vowel/Things fall apart/Light black/City of Ifa. In which they went back to more screams and less singing which I am glad they turned toward to again. To wrap it all up the band has a pretty cool signature sound especially the crazy ass guitar riffs on Overture and Black Pyramid. If your a fan of "Mathcore" (Ugh I hate that word) well you know what I mean, this band will interest you. I do hope for that length to either sound like Black Pyramid or Overture. So check it and download it. Also the band needs some money so buy there stuff also.
