TP/ST

I am drinking beer (and Jack Daniels) and last night Toasted plastic released a 4th ep (I was hoping a full length) well it has the same sound as June highs. So it sounds really really good. You can download it for free and there are pre orders for it also out of 100. Get one while you can.

Sand castles

Damn I am pretty tired. Here in Cali the weather has been pretty fair 77-79 degrees ever since summer started. It can be around 84-92 degrees even around 100 in some parts. Well here is Sand castles. I remember Sand castles when it was under Lights on Emendy around 2009. I thought this disappeared afterwards but I guess it continued as Sand castles. Sans castles has done 2 covers one being Algernon's Look down and Merchant ships Old grey. This bands early stuff (As Lights on Emendy) sounds like Merchant ships. So you might dig this

A Kolya post

Not much worth as in "new" but I wanted to mention this band. Just as a for shits and giggles. Well let me start off with a little story. During my early times of figuring out and finding out of music blogs Kolya and among a few others (Lync, Chune, Boys life, Empire state games) were the first bands I have found and listened to during my first listens of real emo. Kolya was one that just hit the spot on "What the fuck am I listening but I like it" I remember throwing Kolya's 4 songs off both 7"s and my parents and I went down somewhere to some Shakeys for a cousins daughter birthday (I dont remember where exact) and while heading there I heard this band, from there the band changed me in many different ways I do not see music the same as I did before (By the way this was in the fall of 2008 maybe around October 2008) well its been since then that this band hasn't been off my mind. Sure I have Empire state games s/t EP and Chune's  physical discography (Burnt, Nine ways to sunday 10", Big hat no cattle) but Kolya was one I wasn't sure I'll ever own on physical due to its rare find I managed to track both down for about $54 bucks (Its not the most expensive vinly but the second most) and well I feel satisfied. If one band can describe my personality I would go with Kolya. Kolya's music is hard to explain. The instruments feel as a part of energy slowly building up while the Vocalist (Todd Giles) narrates the entire songs in such a calm manner that his voice never builds in yet the instruments being played in the background creates this energy that just gives you the vibe that you are whole. The vocals just never build in but the instruments create this beautiful cathartic vibe of content. Its one of the many things I'd never thought of ever enjoying in music making Kolya as far as one of the classic 90's that must be heard. It isn't something many bands pull off or even at this day. Iditarod's 7" (being the first release) the band is a 4 piece which you hear 2 guitars playing one being Tood Giles. The lyrics involved on the 2 pieces of poetry is so good. " The genius raped by the entrepeneur. The passerby by the opportunist. Is this what we've been reduced to" such a epic line. Although the band's first release is a 2 song 7" with no hopes of a longer length or a demo the band does put out a 5 song demo tape which was the last as a 4 piece band in 1999 the demo tape was recently put out in the internet a few years ago and the demo has 2 songs which were later put on kolya's second 7" and 3 songs that were never on anything else. 2 being instrumentals and a odd one called "Jet lagged" which as far from lyrics they are pretty wierd and even has a dark gloomy sound. In 2000 the band released the final.single which instead of 2 guitars it is just one which feels incomplete and as if a lead guitar is missing (other than that this 7" is truly amazing) after a year in 2001 the band did their debut and last release of 10 songs the LP was also released in cd (seems like ill have a chance to get the CD first rather than the LP) although on some songs the bands structure does focuses on some singing chorus but there are a good amount of songs that are narrative told instead of singing. Sadly that is all there is to the band. So about 19 songs were recorded 2 of them being re-recorded so it be 17 songs were done. And well I sorta feel like the band couldve done a few more although I am sorta satisfied with both 7"s. I do hope for the demo to be remastered and released on vinyl one day. That is all I can say. The band still lives on in me and it is far as one of the bands I enjoy the most and I hope other bands learn to play on how Kolya did it. If you haven't heard em I would suggest to download it off For Ivadell's if yoy want the better quality MP3's.

Mosey Jones

I was asked to post this band by a member and I been sleeping on anything thrown on my email so I figured to look back and stuff and I saw this band as a request. Well the band is a indie rock band from New York and has quiet few releases one being a new EP. So far everything sounded pretty good.. Good for me to throw it in my ipod. So yeah its good hippie indie stuff.
