Well I am off to Belmont Shore again so I won't be back home til next week meaning I won't do any post til either next Monday or the next next Monday. Either one. Got my clothes, vodka, shot glasses, and food packed hell I am even taking my ps3 since I recently bought a hdmi cable. I also invited a few close friends along with my cousins to smoke some weed, take shots, play fallout 3 and watch Asian girl movies. So before getting into this post, back in 2009 I showed my friend The reptilian and he liked it a lot and told me to look into Minus the bear. I was a douche with music in high school so I didn't but before that back in 2007 I had Charter cable and I saw a music video of Minus the bear which was the song "Knights" the song was from the bands third length album "Planet of Ice" (Which it is an okay album but not as great as the first 4 releases) The song was good but eventually I got over the song. In early Spring of this year I went up and searched them (after discovering Sharks keep moving first) I went back in time and heard the bands first EP "This is what I know about being a gigantic" and I liked it a lot I could compare early Minus with Colossal (which is why I ended up liking Minus a lot) so I ended up buying Minus the bear's EP and first full length "Highly refined pirates" and man are they awesome. I was a bit skeptical on the bands second EP "They make beer commercials like this" after knowing there was a repress with a compilation added to the EP I ended up liking that EP which went to the later different sound of "Menos el oso" the bands second length. After hearing this length I'll submit that I like this length as well but not as great as Highly refined pirates that's for sure. I actually see the bands early stuff more as a "kicking it, relax, have a few beers with friends" music. I been playing on getting They make beer commercials like this EP and Menos el oso soon (Once I get all of Karate's albums, Cursive's Such blinding stars for starving eyes, The early storm, and Domestica and also Sharks keep moving Self titled and Pause and clause EP since I am missing those 2) Minus the bear is indeed math rock (early stuff) you can hear the Math rock fading at They make beer commercials like us EP and you can completely hear it fade out in the Planet of ice album (which is okay but not a favorite of mine) as for mtb's new stuff I couldn't get into it. Sharks keep moving and Minus the bear do in fact have a different style. Skm is much more slower and jazz like while mtb is much more hyped a bit more fast paced with quick tap notes. If anything I'll be posting there early stuff. And also I'll be adding the song "Drop it like its hot" (Originally from Bands like it when you yell "yar" at them EP) which is a early sampler preview of 3 of Highly refined pirate's songs which was a few months later released leaving only Drop it like its hot as an original to that EP. Saying that I don't know why Highly refined pirates CD version contains 2 songs that are "radio edit" I mean they still sound the same and are no different (perhaps they took out some of the curse words out) other than that I saw it pointless to add those 2 songs and should've instead added "Drop it like its hot" into the album.
