Sepia//Memory & Slumlord

Sepia//Memory
A fine cloudy saturday morning here in Long Beach. It looks like better music will be played here after all. I recently started on a project entitled Sepia//Memory. So what is Sepia//Memory? This project I am starting is a Kolya/The Exploration influence that was one piece and now a 2 piece band. I wouldnt say that its exact a twinkly band (Since thats something from the Midwest) but I will say it draws some of that influence. Anyways its in sing talk lyrics form, Ive recently released an EP entitled The Red Room Sessions #1, a 2 song single "Sleep Patterns/Jargon" and the most recent 2013 Summer Demo. Right now I am currently working on a EP as a 2 piece. So far I have 6 songs done for it. The meaning of this project is to simply let go of the things I been holding into for years. Its like my therapy.

Slumlord
Before I began on Sepia//Memory Slumlord was a odd project I did. In October 2012 I was working on a 7 track EP entitled Night Noise. The songs ended up getting accidentally deleted and only one was saved so I had to start over with 5 other songs. Once I recorded the 5 Night Noise EP ended up being a 6 track. It has a solid mixture of Instrumental/Psychedelic-like/Ambient sound. A few weeks after that release I began working on a 10 song cassette. The release was unofficially released and the tape ended up being on the tape deck of the recorder for months which I ended up forgetting about I ended up posting the 10 songs on bandcamp as a Unreleased Cassette. There a bit more odd than the ones on Night Noise EP (Maybe the reason why I never released it). Will this project continue? Maybe as of now I am pretty much focused on Sepia//Memory and another band I am trying to start called "Omoide O Kataru" (Means Remnisce in Japanese). Slumlord was more of a mind relax stress free project. It would make me sleep to the tunes and have a content mood the next day. It wasnt my therapy but more of content flashbacks.

Ardvarck - High Hopes EP

Another new band I discovered this week. It has members of Lautrec and Lion of the north. So you guys pretty much know I am on this thing really really hard since I am a Lautrec nerd. It has the similar Lautrec-ish guitar style and somewhat on the vocals not too much though. But its good. I cant say too much but just check out there debut EP. Its great and it is going on my 2013 list as well. I hope these guys keep making more tunes and what not. Cheers!

Deaf Ears- Summer Demo '13

Welp its another summer day. And I am pretty much good to go for another quick post. This band is new new meaning they recently released there 2 song Summer demo at least about 2-3 weeks ago and my god its fucking good. They are from Arizona and have a similar style to Innards/Lautrec/Father Figure. So if you like those 3 bands I will say to check this. Check them out. This Summer demo is insanely good. Very good. Still life with candle approved.

Luscious Duncan

Not to long ago during the time I found out about The Sooper Swag Project. I also came across one of the guys from TSSP and it was the bassist I think his name is Brain? Not to familiar with the midwestern scene as I am with the so kali scene here. Anyways during that time he also recently released his debut 13 track length entitled "Controls the universe" or "Luscious Duncan Controls The Universe" theres some nice good songs on there and a few bland mediocre songs, one of the songs from the debut length was also in TSSP's Self-Titled called "Stash". Afterwards a few months he came with the release of a 4 track EP called The New Galaxies EP which isnt so bad and much more progress from the debut length. Not too too long ago he posted 4 bsides from the debut length that weren't released for another EP entitled Undiscovered Galaxies EP. I really don't know why he didnt put them up on his debut length because those 4 songs are much better than some of the mediocre ones on that length. It has.my favorite track entitled "Dank Like Jesus" (which I was speaking of on TSSP's post) I am not in the hip hop/rap game but if I dig these tunes might as well check it. He isnt a bad rapper (Even if he isnt taken seriously) he is pretty good actually. He released about 4 music videos which 3 are from his debut and one from the first EP. All 3 releases are for free on his bandcamp. Im about to enjoy the rest of the day exercising, cleaning a bit and getting some stuff done for my project which I will soon post on here as well.

Calculator @ VLHS 6/28/2013

Welp here is the Calculator set for those who dont know about. I am actually right in front of the set and I am shown (white calculator tour t-shirt, messy hair in a bun)
They did a great job thats all I can really say. I was pumped and psyched just like everyone else who was moshing and dancing. I hope theres a next one for next summer so that I can play with my band. I was hoping for the new record to be there so I can buy it, but its still in pre-order. Anyways check it out

Adventures

Welp another stilllife session. The weather here in California is odd it was raining last night and now its cloudy and cold. For July and being summer this is perahps the first time its been cold for summer. So lets talk about the Philly band Adventures. I saw them at VLHS a few weeks ago (Growing up is dumb fest) what got me much more hooked was that I was close into crying during the set I felt the vocalist pain of emotional words being said on the mic (She is pretty cute no lie) what tripped me out was that all the emo kids popped out from the crowd and began moshing to the slow sad jams being played. Nonetheless this band is so 90's like similar to Everyone asked about you, Crash and Britany, Eldritch Anisette, The Pennikurvers and all those 90's female vocalist bands that also involves shouting. It wasn't the first time I heard of them on the show. A few weeks before Growing up is dumb fest began someone on one of the five groups I am in posted a bandcamp link to Adventures. In which I think the band Alta did or was it Justin from Alta now that I am thinking back. Anyway, I gave them a listen and I loved it so much. They currently have a 4 song self titled 7" and another 4 song 7" entitled "Clear my head with you" (Which was released in June little less than a month ago). From what I been hearing from rumors is that they are currently working on a split with the band Pitty Sex. I do wish for a full length but fuck it. The new 7" is good and sad enough to be on my top list of 2013 albums. So if you like them 90's emo chick singer bands. YOU WILL I MEAN YOU WILL LOVE THIS HARD ENOUGH TO CRY.

Btw I was in this set. Ill post the Calculator set on also. I am waiting for La Bella's and NoTongue's video

NoTongue - Body+Mind 7"

So right now I am in my summer class and all I have been doing is just listen to NoTongue's new 4 song 7" entitled "Body+Mind" (Like right now) Ever since the release of //// or I would say there s/t ep cassette I been day dreaming on this future release. I remember some of the songs being played at the VLHS show on the 28th of June for the Growing Up Is Dumb fest alongside La Bella, Adventures and Calculator. I remember dancing I mean dancing to NoTongue's new songs. When NoTongue's set ended I stopped by to say "Yo" to Nik who is in the band and also on Calculator's. I asked for this 7" because I wanted to buy it. Sadly, it wasnt out yet and was going to take 2 more weeks. Kyeo Speaks (Mark from Summer Vacation) released the vinyl. Its pretty cool though that he did. I am planing to see them live again. It was freaking amazing and hopefully catch up to buy the 7". The 4 songs are a trip and just something new and powerful to me. It is a really memorable vinyl to me mainly because of NoTongue's signature sound which yes I would say Calculator/Matsuri smashed like smores (Since Nik is from Calc. and Andrew is from Matsuri, dont forget he was in Moldar also) Anyways make sure to catch them on a show there way beyond good and also buy that 7" from Mark if you see him or on Kyeo Speaks fb page or blog or whatever. This is another release that is not just going on my top album list of 2013 but on the top 5 since its really good. They may be 5 or 4 or even 3? possibly 2 on the list.
