The Littlest Viking

Welp. This is the first instrumental band I heard actually that got me into the whole instrumental math rock scene. As you can see this band means a lot. Releaseing an EP entitled "Mafia EP", a full length "Labor & Lust" in 12" LP and there newest 12" which is under as there "Self titled" It is fucking... Amazing... They did a great fucking job with that release of the self titled. There are some sing along songs as well, so that new length isn't instrumental as opposed to there "Labor & Lust". I been waiting on a release of theres for 2 years and about little as a month ago or almost 2 there self titled has been released. Now I am digging the new tunes waiting for a third full length. I know I ask too much but, but god damn. It is a good band. Great band man, great band. SO if your into the whole math rock instrumental or even indie/math rock singable this is for you. I mean I am not a big fan of how there self titled sounds but wow they are amazing on how to play tunes. So yeah do yourself a favor and get these. You can buy there self titled at there labels store Mountain Man Records as for a Christmas present. It's the perfect gift. Many don't know they had a EP as there first release. The 3 songs were later re-recorded onto there first full length "Labor & Lust" I made a mediafire file containing there full length and EP together to save time.

Our Sunday Affairs

I haved lagged again on posts here. I havent had an ani-virus til like today about 5 minutes ago I installed a free one. I am ready for the night to drink with some friends and have a kickass time with them. I remember going over this band on last.fm a vaery long time ago when this band actually barely began with there first split and there very first EP. I will admit I did not like it alot enough to have it on my ipod. About late fall early spring I heard there second EP "Transitions" and I pretty much digged it. Kinda reminded me of how American Football would sound if they were a little more hyped with some Midwest Pen Pals to it. The band was giving free shit within 24 hours around August 31 of this year. It was there newest EP "City Of Dogs" So since it was free I ordered one. They came to my mail til about 2 days ago on thursday and they also sent me there semi discography CD since many of us waited for that long. SO I heard the whole damn thing and it is really fucking good. It is only missing there 3 split songs oddly (they shouldve just been on there as well)

As you can see I haven't even opened my City of Dogs EP it also comes with 2 re-recorded songs one from the Emo Side Project Split and the other track "Defect on Juno" this is a pretty decent band that follows that midwest scene with the clean guitars and poppy punkish tune with some emo smashed to it. Great Job.

Secret Smoker

Yes I am finally back. All this waiting crap with Revolver Ocelot's new album coming up, and all of my Psychology homework and History of rock homework has collided together. Though I just got done with the history of rock crap I still need to work on my take home exam which is due on tuesday. I feel rushed and my hair is falling off. And I still cry at night whenever I listen to Interpol's song Obstacle 1 (just a joke) Anyways. This one is for by homies band Billy who is in Secret Smoker. Unlike many of today's bands that has a blend with today's generation (say what it is but we all know Loma Prieta has that new wave style). Secret Smoker still follows the path of a 90's sound emotive hardcore band. You know those bands such as Agna Moraine's Autobiography, Plunger, The Hal Al Shedad, Shotmaker and Across five aprils. There music still grows within that time. I will say that's pretty fucking cool. The band recently released there debut length "Terminal Architecture" under protagonist music. The covers look pretty groovy and I like the bands sound. I couldn't agree more with the bands excellence of style of playing. I heard many great bands that has came up with some great releases. This one goes on my liste of some good ass album of the year as well along with the others I have mentioned.

Show these guys some love and order there 12" at http://protagonistmusic.bigcartel.com/product/secret-smoker-terminal-architecture-vinyl-lp

They also have a soundcloud if anyone is interested to hear the jam and also a bandcamp

It's one of those bands you can say "well here is one of those rare bands who still play that 90's emo influence" even when I heard them I thought they were from 1996.

Pre order a copy for Winter cause this is the stuff you would want to hear as for the jingle all the freakin way

T̶O̶N̶G̶U̶E

I been extremely busy on stupid shit I wished I wasn't busy on like the new stuff for Revolver Ocelots new and first full length so that I can do more posts on here. I have a lot to catch up on, but there's that saying "A real man does shit he doesn't like doing". So let me start off with this post. One of the members of this band told me to post there first release EP on here. I was actually going to in early Spring but what the hey I'll do it now ^.^ since there new comers still. You know the scene in the bay area is pretty dope since this band is from Oakland. Many great bands are from there. I heard this band right when this EP came out one of the members posted on facebook. I checked it and holy fuck. I freakin loved this EP. I mean for a bands first release I will say the quality isn't no skramz demo that came from a garage. Its obvious these guys are taking this stuff seriously, I mean they should. Cause I dig this good stuff. And it hurt my feelings if they weren't and would lead me to depression and cry my little eyes out. If you mixed Moldar/John Cota/Calculator/Matsuri/Kidcrash you get this since it has that similarity sound. I still have the songs on my phone and bump to it at times. I really dig the shouty/screamy vocals. But what I dig the most is the rhythm of the band its pretty upbeat to me, almost like it wants to be twinklyish but busts some jazzy skramz tempos at some point. So it is definetly really good stuff to listen to. That I'd be intense just watching them live. Or even if im drinking with friends and I play this I be nooding my head. So for you Kali Sounds fans, and Kalifornia Mixtape. If you make another compilation. Be sure to add this band to the family as well. You can't miss them. I am stoked for the new recordings coming soon. So I know I cant miss that shit out. So peeps check these guys because they play fucking awesome. I am confused whether the band is called "T̶O̶N̶G̶U̶E" or "No Tongue" or "Tongue".... Yeah -.-

The Reptilian

Lately I been hooked up again to this exciting rare of a band. SImilar sounds to Alta's and Native's groovy rhythm I do remember listening to this band when they released Boys Life EP then they later released the 3 unreleased songs in which I thought they were to be on the Later Full Health 10". Sadly they didn't but its okay that release is cool too. When they released there digital EP "We Have Become" and once I heard it.. I was blown by the mixture sound of the band. Sorta reminded me of some Ska, punk, Raggae, experimental, indie type of form music. I fucking loved it. They are jams to get faded too. I still do til this day. I have actually ordered a copy of there Boys Life EP and Full health 10". THe band later progrssed to that twinkly screamoish sound which I still think its fucking cool. It sucks they never released the 3 live songs from there cassette which I ever hope they have studio recordings of these songs. It had that sound of the 3 unreleased songs. Well I do like this band a lot and there isn't much to be said by them but just a reminder post of how awesome they are.

first track From there first digital EP (Which was also on a 4 way split CD with Lautrec/Osceola/The reptilian and boy problems.

I hate myself

While checking blogs out I discovered many of the blogs that are more modern andpost more of the mainstream bands that are to be considered "Emo" and "Screamo" aren't in fact what they label themselves. I see those bands as a modern post hardcore band which are to be entitled "Mediocre" or "Okay" on my view. Many of you might say "Well, Who cares?" Well let me tell you something, I kinda care. I am tired of running into people who tell me oh yeah I like screamo and emo music. I get hyped right after telling me this bullshit and once they give me a list of these so called bands. I pebble of shit comes out my ass from the anger that has been created after listening to shit that isn't what its labeled on. I give them a few names which are the ones I posted on here. And they have no fucking clue. Yeah you call yourself a big fan of the genre, well let me tell you little fucks (to those who don't know) it gets kinda tired after while, I mean do your research to what the fuck you like. You cant like a genre and have no idea what the fuck it is. Thats a fucking load of seamen and puke. It makes those people look like a bunch of retards. It gives the real shit a band name since those bands who poses as "Emo" or "Screamo" take up most credit that shouldn't even be given to those shitty modern post rock bands. Well fuck. Here I am again. Well this is a small post. I reember my friend Julia giving me a mixed cdr with these "Emo Violence" bands 2 songs from I hate myself were on that CD. "Caught in the flood" and "Song 3" My personal favorite. Although I wasn't a big fan on the splits the band made. I was more into 4 songs and 2 songs and a few songs from 10 songs. Yeah the releases never had a album name. Well they didnt need to, just hearing the entire record will define you the name of the album "Sad fucking shit that will make you hate yourself" there it is. Well no. Not really. From there I ended up getting there other songs. But I think 2 songs 7" and for songs LP is personally my favorite releases by this band. But you never know you might like it all. For a band in the mid-late 90's this shit was fucking emotional hardcore. I believe bands like I hate myself is the real definition was "Emo" is. I bet people who were suicidal fucking killed themselves after listening to this shit. Because if I was at that stable point, this would give me a little push to literally kill myself. Its gloomy, raw, slugish-like, sad, angry shit. I am sure many of you o.g emo freaks know who this band is and might say. Why post thise if many have posted this band. Well same reason many of the bloggers posted this band, it opened my eyes and took me in to the emo reality since many of us were stuck in the matrix. By the way I am sorry if im rambling I took many bowl shots of weed and drank 5 red bulls.

Early Kidcrash

So a while ago I was looking up Kidcrash again just to see if anything is new with them til I remembered the band took a short break so I pretty much have everything since there last release was Naps, then Snacks, then Jokes and blah. Well I found out Kidcrash had other shit they never mentioned anywhere til some dude on last.fm uploaded the early kidcrash shit which took place around there release of "New Ruins" and that "I never had a date EP" there first release was a 10 song demo cdr in 2000, also along with a EP entitled "Dissect this hour" which has 6 songs which are okay quality it isnt so much stuido like quality but still nice. And also released a 8 song entitled "A fire in the Museum". Which sounds like a mixture of new ruins and I never had a date. Its cool to finally know this band had 3 other releases which is wierd because they took time in between new ruins and there EP but what blows is.......... Why the fuck didn't I know this by now? Why couldnt the band post this shit on there site since they had all the other releases there for free download why couldn't this be up there. I mean they cant be embaressed; they even had New ruins up there. Well fuck it I found out today. It kinda steams my balls to know ever since I knew this band in late sumer 2009 I never knew this band had these other 3 releases. I figured well they never had a demo and just came with new ruins all in the sudden. It is obvious most bands release a demo before going on to some length. Even the speed of sound in seawater had garage demos of Blue version which I couldn't really find anywhere except in Damiens tumblr well. If none of you know Kidcrash had 3 other releases well there here since I re uploaded them. If you guys knew well fuck man, say something. And if none of you know who Kidcrash is well there a Post hardcore/Experimental/Screamo/ DIY whatever band that has 3 sounds actually. While there first demo, new ruins, Dissect the hour EP, A fire in the museum has more of a indie/alternative sound while I never had a date is a between new ruins and there new coming sound. there 2006 demo the 3 splits they have with L'Antietam, Arse Moreira, and Coffin dancer along with Jokes they created much of a harder sound mixing post hardcore/math rock/screamo/experimental like stuff. To me Snacks and Naps sounds more like the same crossover I was speaking of like I never had a date theres more shouting than screaming although they have that mathy rock tune on there guitars with a sorta post rock into it. So yes this bands sound changes which reminds me of At The Drive-In. I like all there releases and it is a good example of how bands can change style and still be bad mother fuckers. I will go over the other half of Kidcrash on another post. Here is an example of what I mean
