Calculator @ VLHS 6/28/2013

Welp here is the Calculator set for those who dont know about. I am actually right in front of the set and I am shown (white calculator tour t-shirt, messy hair in a bun)
They did a great job thats all I can really say. I was pumped and psyched just like everyone else who was moshing and dancing. I hope theres a next one for next summer so that I can play with my band. I was hoping for the new record to be there so I can buy it, but its still in pre-order. Anyways check it out

Adventures

Welp another stilllife session. The weather here in California is odd it was raining last night and now its cloudy and cold. For July and being summer this is perahps the first time its been cold for summer. So lets talk about the Philly band Adventures. I saw them at VLHS a few weeks ago (Growing up is dumb fest) what got me much more hooked was that I was close into crying during the set I felt the vocalist pain of emotional words being said on the mic (She is pretty cute no lie) what tripped me out was that all the emo kids popped out from the crowd and began moshing to the slow sad jams being played. Nonetheless this band is so 90's like similar to Everyone asked about you, Crash and Britany, Eldritch Anisette, The Pennikurvers and all those 90's female vocalist bands that also involves shouting. It wasn't the first time I heard of them on the show. A few weeks before Growing up is dumb fest began someone on one of the five groups I am in posted a bandcamp link to Adventures. In which I think the band Alta did or was it Justin from Alta now that I am thinking back. Anyway, I gave them a listen and I loved it so much. They currently have a 4 song self titled 7" and another 4 song 7" entitled "Clear my head with you" (Which was released in June little less than a month ago). From what I been hearing from rumors is that they are currently working on a split with the band Pitty Sex. I do wish for a full length but fuck it. The new 7" is good and sad enough to be on my top list of 2013 albums. So if you like them 90's emo chick singer bands. YOU WILL I MEAN YOU WILL LOVE THIS HARD ENOUGH TO CRY.

Btw I was in this set. Ill post the Calculator set on also. I am waiting for La Bella's and NoTongue's video

NoTongue - Body+Mind 7"

So right now I am in my summer class and all I have been doing is just listen to NoTongue's new 4 song 7" entitled "Body+Mind" (Like right now) Ever since the release of //// or I would say there s/t ep cassette I been day dreaming on this future release. I remember some of the songs being played at the VLHS show on the 28th of June for the Growing Up Is Dumb fest alongside La Bella, Adventures and Calculator. I remember dancing I mean dancing to NoTongue's new songs. When NoTongue's set ended I stopped by to say "Yo" to Nik who is in the band and also on Calculator's. I asked for this 7" because I wanted to buy it. Sadly, it wasnt out yet and was going to take 2 more weeks. Kyeo Speaks (Mark from Summer Vacation) released the vinyl. Its pretty cool though that he did. I am planing to see them live again. It was freaking amazing and hopefully catch up to buy the 7". The 4 songs are a trip and just something new and powerful to me. It is a really memorable vinyl to me mainly because of NoTongue's signature sound which yes I would say Calculator/Matsuri smashed like smores (Since Nik is from Calc. and Andrew is from Matsuri, dont forget he was in Moldar also) Anyways make sure to catch them on a show there way beyond good and also buy that 7" from Mark if you see him or on Kyeo Speaks fb page or blog or whatever. This is another release that is not just going on my top album list of 2013 but on the top 5 since its really good. They may be 5 or 4 or even 3? possibly 2 on the list.

The Sooper Swag Project

Okay let me get this straight. I heard of TSSP on Chug Life's blogspot. I have to admit, the name sounded silly til I found out that 2 of the guys are from the instrumental math rock band "The Para-Medics" So I gave them a listen and holy mother of ass I really got soo hooked. LD has some pretty good sick lines I must say that kid is my favorite rapper of todays time. In early 2013 they released there second length entitled "Next Level" along with a single for there next upcoming 3rd length called "Keep on samplin'" Shit hits the roof hard. Because of these guys I enjoy rap more often now besides C////O (Whatever happened to them they seemed to disappear?), Bone thugs n' harmony, Nate Dogg, and Cypress Hill. Anyway these 3 guys have done little music vids and unfortunately they also landed on my top album list of 2013. Even Luscious Duncan's Undiscovered Galaxies EP landed on my top list because of the "Dank Like Jesus" track which won over "Yes Yes" and "Fucktown Fantasies of new galaxies".
There stuff is for free on there bandcamp which includes there self titled, Yesid the creator single, Next level and Keep on samplin' single. Here's some of the vids they have done. I am also posting Namdi's vid although it isn't related to TSSP but the song is sexy. I also heard of them making some shirts. I am willing to buy a few because I am that much in love with TSSP. I hope they release the self titled and Next Level on CD or LP or both sometime in the future.

Toasted Plastic

The other day (well a few weeks ago) without much mention of a release date. Toasted plastic (Better than The Beatles) released there debut this summer (Yes many fucking releases this summer) entitled "June Highs" its about 8 songs long and much more progress from the rest of the releases. Don't get me wrong I love the other releases but June Highs is probably that one release where you can hear the progress of the band. Anyways I been into these guys since late 2012 but I don't think I ever mentioned them. They also released 2 EP's when they barely started which isn't on there bandcamp but I will say there mediocre I prefer the releases from the bandcamp page much more. The band is a mixture of math rock-ish/Indie/Emo but definitely some really catchy catchy summer tunes you'll fall in love with. Yes better than The Beatles

The Reptilian- Low Health

I am back for more dicks. Welp lets get to the main point on this post. The fucking Reptilian came out big with there first debut length entitled "Low Health". Ever since I bought Full health 10" I always been day dreaming on how this Low Health will sound like. And it sounds splendid ass fuck. Really fucking powerful alongside Calculator's debut. Like I said, many lengths are coming out big this year. This debut length has 10 noodly twinkly skramz songs. Although I will mention. It's still not enough for me. Being a fan since the release of Boys life EP I look back to the past years even during my high school youth and I realized it took them a while for a debut length. But I will give them props for being on my top 2013 list of albums. Anyway order this LP/CD soon plus Count your lucky stars also released a tape of We have become EP/Boys life Ep together as an 8 song tape. I literally jizzed when I heard cyls was going to release this. Check it check it and buy it.

Here's a video of them playing the second track off "Full Health" fucking sexy ass hell

Calculator

Well yes I am back and to start off by saying I won't be posting anymore dead bands I am officially sticking with modern ones, reasons why? There are many blogs that cover old same old bands all the time. It is pointless of me doing that and also to add those bands were from that time we need to rock with our socks and sandwiches to the new ones of our generation. To start off now with the post, I recently saw Calculator on Friday at the VLHS in Pamona alongside with a band called Adventures who remind me of Rainer Maria/Everyone Asked About You and Crash and Britany, NoTongue and La Bella (Which I bought there 7" Recomposition. Anyways we all did sing alongs danced and moshed. Well when Calc. started shit got real I remember at one point I was close in fainting because of the small space and heat. I thought to myself it be worth dying this way. Calculator not to long ago released there 2nd length entitled This will come to pass which in my own personal opinion is THEE shit. I hear a lot of progress from These roots grow deep and this new full length. Although I liked These roots more mainly because of the guitars using clean notes and stuff but fuck it This will come to pass is truly a way to show some bands can progress in a more better way. The length is sweet with shorter songs yet song good melody breakdowns and memorable lyrics. I been a sorta fan of Calculator during the early release of These roots grow deep but when listening to the new length I come to realize I love Jeff and I don't hate him anymore like I used to (jk Jeff, I throw into my Calc. tour shirt on the first day of Growing Up Is Dumb) Anyways heres a little here and there from them plus a vid from New Forms 7"
